"I do not believe there is another podcast in which you can actually gain information from someone who has had a lived experience. Mathew’s format allows a unique peek into a person’s life that is so relatable for any audience member."

“The experience was easy and similar to chatting with an old friend. Mathew was prepared and his questions were thought provoking to allow me to share my insights so that listeners experienced my journey in the present.”

Our Team of Mental Health Experts

Merging communication and mental health expertise brings the best of both into the Learn From People Who Lived It shows. The broadcasts are deep-rooted in story, knowledge, teachings and tools that help bring listeners one step closer to personal resolve.

  • A man with glasses and a slight smile, wearing a blue button-up shirt and a dark jacket, taking a selfie in a room with a gray wall in the background, with a black microphone in front of him and a guitar hanging on the wall behind.

    Mathew Blades

For 27 years, Mathew Blades entertained audiences in the broadcast industry. As an award-winning radio host, he cares deeply about people and nurturing the success of those around him. Though a restlessness deep within gnawed at his core to do something more. Working harder didn’t help him feel better. He went deeper into the hard places that fueled emotional pain. Through Mathew Blades emotional training, ideation and personal experience, the Learn From People Who Lived It show and community were born. This global digital outreach engages audiences on a real, grounded, and inspirational level. To embrace human frailty and heal, together.

    David Leicken, MD

David Leicken, MD is a Scottsdale Psychiatrist, board certified in adult psychiatry, treating patients ages 21 and older. In addition to general psychiatry, Dr. Leicken specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder (the psychological affects of trauma) and psychosomatic medicine (the interactions between mind and body). He will take the time to explain his observations to you in an unhurried and supportive environment. By working collaboratively with you, he will help you find practical solutions and achieve the most out of your treatment. Dr. Leicken is able to provide psychotherapy but, if you prefer, he will coordinate your care with another therapist, counselor or clergy member.

  • A man with a well-groomed beard and short dark hair, dressed in a formal black tuxedo with a bow tie and a white shirt, stands in front of a stone wall. He has a boutonniere pinned to his lapel.

    Frank Bevacqua, Ph.D.

A licensed psychologist in Arizona for nearly 10 years, Dr. Frank Bevacqua grew disillusioned with the lack of mental health treatment accessibility for many suffering with emotional and behavioral instability. He sought better opportunities to help the premise of mental wellness go mainstream. His alliance with Learn From People Who Lived It defines and supports his quest. The show allows listeners to vicariously experience the challenging journeys endured by the broadcasts’ guests. In turn, he hopes it encourages more people to seek the support they need. To break free from whatever continues to hold them back!
